Daily Excursions Blue Hole from Dahab & Sharm el Sheikh Every day we run a trip to Dahab’s world Famous “Blue Hole”. Here, where the mountains meet the sea, nature has created a unique and beautiful geological formation. The sheltered waters inside the blue hole are ideal for swimming and snorkeling*, while the more adventurous can swim out to the reef wall to see the amazing marine life. The restaurants here offer opportunities for refreshment and relaxation. You can also venture up into the mountains for a fantastic view of the area, or along the shore to see the ancient fossilized reef exposed here. Daily at 10.30am.
Colored and White CanyonsAn early morning start and a 4x4 Jeep will take us to the Colored Canyon, the Ain Khudra oasis and the White Canyon. In the Colored Canyon high iron content in the sandstone creates the wonderful colors we see here, while thousands of years of erosion by water and wind has formed the amazing sculptured landscape we see today. At the Ain Khudra oasis we meet the local Bedouins and our guide will inform us about their lifestyle and culture. After lunch we trek into the White Canyon which exudes peace and tranquility. Here, high lime content in the rock has resulted in an incredibly beautiful fissure of pure white. We return to Dahab in the early evening.
Wadi guneiWe leave Dahab by camel early in the morning for the hour ride south to the Southern Oasis”. Here we pause to refresh with a swim/snorkeling or just relax amongst the palm trees before heading into the Wade proper. Bedouin lunch is served and then you can explore deep into the Wade where water erosion has formed the rocks into fantastic shapes and you can even see dry “waterfalls”, its hard to envisage that such a normally dry region can have enough rain to carve such dramatic features. After exploring/relaxing we mount up and ride our camels back to Dahab enjoying the sunset on the way.
Wadi GhazalaTo fully experience the splendor our of the Sinai deserts we need to drive for an hour to Wade Ghazala. Our camels will take us through the sandy desert and rugged mountains to the oasis of Ain Khudra. At the oasis we take lunch with the Bedouins and experience their lifestyle. We then hike through the magnificent White Canyon, the rocks high lime content creates the pure white walls we see here. Joining our camels again, we trek across the desert to meet our transport back to Dahab.
Mount Sinai and St. Catherine’s Monastery Mount Sinai (Moses Mountain) rises 2285m and is said to be where God revealed the Ten Commandments to Moses. Mt Sinai is considered sacred by the Christian Jewish and Muslim religions. St. Catherine’s Monastery is the smallest dioceses and the oldest Christian monastery still in use in the world. It also houses a rich collection of icons and precious manuscripts.
Sunrise Trip We leave Dahab at 11:00 pm, ascend Mount Sinai, (about 1.5-3 hours) and watch the breathtaking sunrise from the summit. On the descent we pay our visit to the monastery. Sunset TripThe daytime excursion departs at 8:00 am, includes visiting the monastery, ascending the mountain, enjoying the spectacular view, watching the sunset and descending via the serpentine path. Transfer back to Dahab.
Ras Abu Gallum A short Jeep trip takes us to the Blue Hole where we mount our camels for a trek along the spectacular coast of around one and a half hours.
Ras Mohammed National Park Ras Mohammed was officially opened as Egypts first national park in 1983. The peninsula is situated at the most southerly point of Sinai and extends for around 8 km into the Red Sea.
Nabq National ParkNabq is situated on the coast between Dahab and Sharm el Sheikh. This 600 km2 desert area was declared a conversation area in 1992. Here you can find a 4 km long mangrove forest. Mangroves belong to the amphibic vegetation and grow in flat, sandy areas along tropical coasts. So-called stalk roots are tightly interwoven both in and above the water. The roots are able to filter the saline water and salt is excreted via the leaves of the trees. Nabq is the natural habitat for a large variety of plant species as well as various animals like Starks, herons, desert foxes, gazelles and hyenas. The underwater world of Nabq is most impressing. Open daily from morning to sunset. Entrance fee is 5$.
Blue DesertHere you will find the highly controversial work of Belgium artist Jean Verame. In the beginning of the 80’s, Verame painted, with permission of the president Sadat, the rocks in a 14km2 area bright blue. “Peace Junction” as this artwork is called, stands as symbol of peace and to commemorate the 1979 Camp David Peace Accord between Egypt and Israel. Although controversial, the contrast between the blue rocks and the surrounding ochre sandstone is most impressive as well photogenic.
QUADNever mind that commercial image of your Porche Boxster 911 parked outside your mansion. What about your quad-bike parked on a beach of the ravishing red sea – I mean how can you possibly compare the two. The great difference is that the quad bike and the places that you will be able to visit with us are worth far more than that Porche. We jump onto out quads and off we head to Valley Gonai for an afternoon jam-packed with snake trails, minor dry-river water hazards and the most spectacular chilled drive whilst we hug the coast of the Red Sea. You can take yourself and your loved or take the whole family and friends on an afternoon of sun, fun and laugh after laugh after laugh after laugh ….Hold up … for those of you who are not familiar with the term "quad bike" you should be informed (as the pictures clearly show) that it is a term used to portray an "all terrain vehicle …used in the general sense to describe any of a number of small open motorized buggies and tricycles designed for off-road use".
